Garden Opening & Plant Sale

At the end of September, Pat Williams will be holding her annual Garden Opening to raise money for us. Come along and see her lovely garden. Let’s hope the weather holds, but even if it doesn’t there will be tea and lots of lovely cakes, and plants on sale if you want any.

Collection at Morrisons

Triage

Medical Equipment

STCMLive and the ALSG have donated the following medical equipment: Blood Gas machines Defibrillators Dermatome for skin grafting Ventilators and other equipment to the Critical Care Unit Jaundice meter Anaesthetic machine, to replace one damaged in the 2015 earthquakes STCMLive supported a biomedical engineer’s visit from Alder Hey to fix broken equipment at Kanti.

Radiology

Supported by STCMLive, two consultant paediatric radiologists from Alder Hey have visited Kanti to help develop their imaging services. Tele-radiology was developed so that scans can be sent over the web from Kanti to Alder Hey for a second opinion.

Surgery & Anaesthesia

STCMLive has supported surgical training of surgeons both at Kanti and in the UK. We have also purchased a new anaesthetic machine for them to replace one damaged in the earthquakes of 2015.

Burns

Burns are a major problem in Nepal, but burns care receives a low priority. The mortality rate from sizeable burns is high and survivors frequently have life-changing injury with severe scaring and contractures.
