On Saturday 25 June a memorial football match was held at Hoylake Rugby Club in memory of Danny Cavanagh who died suddenly last year. It was organised by his brother Paul, Joey Curran of West Kirby Residential School and Jay Morris of Barnstoneworth United, Danny’s last football team. It was run as a fundraiser for two of Danny’s pet charities, So the Child May Live, and Footprints on the Map which encourages children with special needs to help those less fortunate than themselves in developing countries. Danny was himself a teacher at West Kirby Residential School for such children.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with whole families participating, and managed to raise about £550 to be split between the two charities. So, well done, lads and, on behalf of children everywhere, many, many thanks.
